In order to satisfy all cycling enthusiasts, we will map cycling routes suitable for all ages.
Circular cycling route to Kvetnica
As the starting point of this route, we chose Námestie sv. Egídia, from where you can get along the river Poprad to the cycle path, which you ascend from the JUH 3 housing estate to Strelnica. The sign continues towards the flooded quarry, which can be reached by passing road no. I / 66. If you want to go to the church of St. Helena on Kvetnice, there will be a gravel cycle path with climbs under the forest.
On the way back, we recommend continuing from the flooded quarry along the well-known route to the “wrapper” and then just enjoy the ride down the hill to Poprad.
✅ Easy route also ideal for families with children
📍 Our tip: use the beautiful environment around the quarry for a walk or small snack. Alternatively, discover with the children a playground with a pirate ship, which is located on a hill by the water.
Take the bike path to Lopušná dolina
As a starting point we chose Námestie sv. Egídia, from where you can get along the Poprad river to the cycle path, which you continue through Svit to Lopušná dolina. The route has only a very slight climb, which you really won’t even notice.
✅ Easy route also ideal for families with children
📍 Our tip: make a few stops along the way and enjoy the beautiful views that are truly exceptional on this route.
Follow in the footsteps of the Neanderthals to Gánovce
As a starting point we chose Námestie sv. Egídia, from where we cross the Starý Juh housing estate and join the cycle route in the direction of Kvetnica. After about 900 m we turn left to the farm buildings and continue across the railway crossing to Gánovce.
From the village we head towards another attraction, Gánovský geyser and then we follow the field road to Hozelec. An asphalt road leads from the village to the Úsvit locality, from where we get back to the town via Stráže pod Tatrami under the motorway along a dirt road.
✅ The route is suitable for more able cyclists
📍 Our tip: take a look at the National Natural Monument complex – Gánovské travertines, along the way, where a 105,000 year old Neanderthal woman’s brain drain was found!
Head around Krížová on Kvetnica
As a starting point we chose Námestie sv. Egídia, from where, along the river Poprad, we get to the cycle path, which we climb from the JUH 3 housing estate to Strelnica. There is aj place called Strelnica (crossing) where the marking of this circuit begins.
The cycle path then leads along the zoo with alternating ascents and descents. We will gradually pass the entire Krížová massif (941 m above sea level) until we reach Kvetnica. From the route we will have wonderful views of the High and Low Tatras. The route has a circular character, but we recommend turning right to Kvetnica to the flooded quarry and continuing to Poprad via the second cycle path.
✅ The route is suitable for more able cyclists
📍 Our tip: learn about the mining history of Kvetnica⚒. Make a stop on the route and take a look at the Stieborná or Sv. Helena mining tunnel. Did you know that copper and silver were mined here more than 700 years ago?
Head across the Kozie chrbty to Liptovská Teplička
The beautiful route starts from Poprad along the cycle path in the direction of Kvetnica – Strelnica locality. Then we cross the road II. class no. 3075 in the direction of Spišské Bystré, from where we continue along a low-traffic road through the villages of Kravany and Vikartovce. The route then begins to have an ascending character until we reach the highest point on our route, from where we drive directly to Liptovská Teplička.
How back? Of course, you can also go back to Poprad along the same route, but our choice is to take a beautiful road in the direction of Biely potok, a crossroads where you connect to the Poprad cycle route (Popradská cyklomagistrála) and through Šuňava, Svit you will come to Poprad.
✅ The route is suitable for more able cyclists
📍 Our tip: the most beautiful section of the road awaits you between Vikartovce and Liptovská Teplička, where we recommend that you stop by the well – Hornád Spring.
